Rural roads could be made safer by a new type of solar powered cats eye. Well, that was the claim made by Astucia.

The challenge was we needed to prove it! Results from a study by the TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) found that these new cats eyes improved drivers’ road positioning on bends, increased visibility, driver awareness and contributed to better vehicle control.

And we made key opinion formers experience it! Key representatives from the Department of Transport, Highways Agency, civil engineering practices, local authorities, police forces and the media were invited to an event at the TRL to hear the report findings and drive a car simulator on a rural road at night time to experience improved road vision.

Strong national, on-line and trade coverage was secured, supported by regional coverage on key roads identified as some of Britain’s most dangerous rural roads.
